A crown is a ‘cap’ or ‘helmet’ for a tooth. A dental crown is usually placed on a brittle or mechanically weak tooth to strengthen it and avoid it from fracturing later. It can also dramatically improve the aesthetic of a discoloured or misshapen tooth. Several materials can be used to make a crowmm with the most effective being Zirconium. Zirconium dental crown usually requires two visits to complete.

Symptoms that may necessitate a dental crown:

• Large fracture of the tooth
• Deep hairline cracks of the tooth
• Root canal treatment on a tooth
• Heavily discoloured or misshaped tooth
• Large fillings with a history of recurrent fracture

• A dental bridge uses two or more teeth to support a false tooth (a pontic). The bridge is fixed in place and feels very natural. A bridge can be constructed from start to finish within 10 days and requires two appointments.
• Dental bridge requires alteration to the supporting teeth and not all teeth are suitable for this purpose. We can tell you whether a dental bridge is a good option for you. Ideally, we do not want to alter sound teeth since complications can happen.
