At Brunswick Dental Clinic, we understand that healthy gums are the foundation of a healthy, radiant smile. Our comprehensive gum care services are designed to prevent, treat, and maintain optimal gum health, ensuring your smile stays strong and vibrant for years to come.

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a common but serious condition that can lead to tooth loss, bone damage, and even systemic health issues. Early detection and treatment are crucial for preventing these complications.

Our Gum Care Services Include

Periodontal Therapy

For patients with advanced gum disease, we offer a range of periodontal therapies, including:

Comprehensive Gum Examinations

Professional Teeth Cleaning (Scaling and Polishing)

Gum Disease Prevention and Education

Treatment of Gum Inflammation (Gingivitis)

Signs that you may need a professional clean

  • Visible tartar build-up
  • Visible staining
  • Bad breath
  • Bleeding gums
  • Sensitive teeth
  • Painful or receding gums

Why is Gum Care Important?

  • Regular teeth cleaning prevents gum diseases and potential loss of teeth later.
  • Many people don’t realise the importance of having dental cleans regularly. There is often a misconception that brushing at home is all that’s needed to maintain good gum health.
  • Although good oral hygiene at home is very important, hard tartar (or dental calculus) cannot be removed without a professional clean on a regular basis and bacteria can cause irreversible damage to your gums and underlying bones.
  • Dental calculus is often found in the pocket or gap between the gums and the teeth. Initially, untreated tartar build-up will cause reversible gum infection (gingivitis). If it is not managed properly, it can cause bone loss and progress into severe periodontal disease (periodontitis). At Brunswick Dental Clinic, the tartar is removed with an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments if needed.
  • For patients with periodontal disease, a bone chart is needed regularly to monitor the progression and overall prognosis. Deep periodontal debridement under local anesthesia are often required to clean tartar near the roots of the teeth. If necessary, laser therapy or surgical periodontal treatment may be required to achieve maximum healing.
  • Besides, not just to prevent or stop the progression of gum diseases, professional cleans can also get rid of staining caused by tea, coffee and red wine.
