Children’s Dentistry

It is essential to provide children a positive dental experience to ensure the best long term outcome and a good perception towards dentistry when they grow up.

Dentistry has come a long way over the past few decades. A major paradigm shift has been made from aggressive, interventional dentistry towards preventative dentistry. At Brunswick Dental Clinic, we promote the idea of “prevention is better than treatment”, no matter from a clinical or financial perspective.

In order the provide a positive dental experience for children, we try to avoid any invasive dental procedures, such as fillings and extractions. While tooth decay remains as one of the most common dental problems in childhood, we fully utilize preventive dentistry, such as oral health education for children and parents, and the use of fluoride products to minimize the risk of tooth decay. At home, we encourage parents to brush for their kids until the age of 8, or until we think that your child is able to brush their teeth properly.

Thanks to the Australian dental healthcare system, the Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS) ensures that cost will never be part of the equation for your child’s dental health. At Brunswick Dental Clinic, we completely bulk bill all eligible CDBS (for ages 2-17 years) claims. It means that parents do not have to pay for the dental work if eligible or within the claim amount ($1000 every 2 years).

Please contact us or visit the Department of Health website for more information on the CDBS. http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/childdental
